Student Success

Across the Iowa State campus, individuals are working together to provide support and empower students to succeed. Learning and community building can happen anywhere and everywhere-your gift will help students discover who they are and who they want to be through their unique college experiences.

On Forever True Day, show your Cyclone Power by supporting these featured areas!

Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center (ASC) is the university-wide resource to help students succeed in the classroom, whether they are looking to ace their next test or paper, or getting paired with a tutor for the semester. The ASC serves over 9,000 students and delivers over 100,000 hours of academic support each year. Support for the ASC will enhance services offered to students to help them reach and achieve their academic goals.

Jack Trice Character Award

This student scholarship honors the memory of Jack Trice, the first African-American student-athlete at the then Iowa State College. Recipients of this award exemplify characteristics Jack embodied, such as courage and a commitment to helping others.

Memorial Union

For close to 100 years, cherished memories and enduring traditions have echoed through the halls of the Memorial Union at Iowa State University. We celebrate the nostalgia of an M-Shop concert, events out on the terrace, frosties in the Food Court, but most importantly, we celebrate students finding their sense of community within our walls. Help create more lasting memories and new MU traditions for generations to come. Once a part of the Memorial Union, forever a true part of the Cyclone legacy.

Student Counseling Services

Student Counseling Services (SCS) provides confidential prevention, intervention, information, and referral services to Iowa State students. Assistance is available for students coping with relationship problems, low self-esteem, stress, loneliness, depression, cultural differences, sexual assault recovery, childhood abuse, trauma, eating disorders, substance abuse, career/major, academic motivations, and other concerns. Donor support helps ensure that most professional services are provided at no charge to students.

Students Helping Our Peers (SHOP)

Food insecurity is the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. According to ISU Student Wellness, an estimated 31% of ISU students are food insecure. The SHOP is a food pantry for Iowa State students with the mission to engage with anti-hunger advocates and serve the student population by increasing hunger awareness and food security. The SHOP is run by student volunteers and food is obtained through donations.
